Books by women are published in similar numbers to books by men, but female authors are still stuck at the back of the line. Why?
To try and tackle this head on, the #readwomen2014 campaign has kicked off on Twitter.
Writing in the Guardian, Joanna Walsh thinks the problem lies in 'girly covers' that are immediately designed for female writers even if they've produced a gritty thriller.
Campaigners hope the social push will encourage readers to find a brilliant female voice that's not necessarily listed in the review pages. This lovely lady has the whole thing wrapped up...
