Stars pay tribute to Whitney Houston

Watch Jennifer Hudson perform I Will Always Love You in tribute at the Grammys. Mariah Carey, Rihanna and more also paid tribute to the late singer, whose daughter Bobbi Kristina was hospitalised on Sunday.

Following Whitney Houston's tragic death on Saturday, stars have been paying tribute to the star and her unique voice.

Simon Cowell was one of the first to react publicly, telling reporters that this week he had been planning to discuss approaching Whitney about one of the vacant The X Factor USA judging positions.

Most of the American music world was caught up in preparing for the Grammys when the sad news was announced - and Whitney herself was due to appear at a pre-Grammys party at the Beverly Hilton hotel, where her body was found.

Her hairdresser found her in the bath, before paramedics were called. reports that her daughter Bobbi Kristina was hospitalised on Sunday after suffering a breakdown in reaction to her mother's untimely death.

Bobbi's father, and Whitney's ex-husband, Bobby Brown arrived at LAX last night, cancelling a show in Nashville to be with his daughter. She's since been released from hospital.

Rihanna tweeted her reaction to Whitney's death, "No words! Just tears #DearWhitney I honestly can't think of anything else!!! Feels so strange being at the Grammy rehearsal right now!!"

Whitney's friend and duet partner Mariah Carey wrote: "Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth."

Her publicist has said the cause of her death is unknown, and toxicology test results are around 6 weeks away at least. I'll keep you updated with any new details as they emerge.
