His portrayal of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises should be interesting if they're among those he chooses to inform his characters...

Along with Michael Fassbender and Ryan Gosling, Tom Hardy is one of the best actors on the rise at the moment, and he's revealed his secret.

The heavily-tattooed hunk has spoken about some of the people he uses as inspiration to inform his characters when he's creating them for a movie.

A movie like, for instance, The Dark Knight Rises - set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer.

He plays villain Bane in the movie and told Total Film:

"I will, when I build certain characters, take a soupcon of different things.

"Like Kermit The Frog. I'll put a bit of Kermit in there.

"I'll take Robert De Niro from Taxi Driver, mix him up with animals and different characters, add a voice and then go home.

"I know my guy. He has a lot of people in it…"

But just in case you're a little alarmed that Tom might've modelled Bane on a Muppet… well…

"No, there's no Kermit in Bane. Absolutely f**king not!"
