What's the film about?
Ginger and Rosa are best friends growing up in the early 1960s. The pair are inseparable, act wild together, discuss love, religion and politics and dream of lives bigger than their mothers' frustrated domesticity.
Ginger is worried about nuclear bombs causing the world to end and becomes a youth activist, while Rosa turns to religion and random boys.
But, as Ginger's parents fight and fall apart, and the threat of nuclear holocaust grows, the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered.
Who's in it? Elle Fanning, Alice Englert, Christina Hendricks
Elle Fanning is truly stepping out from her sister's shadow. We can imagine that Dakota has shared words of child acting wisdom to her little sis and it looks like Elle has taken it all down.
She is adorable as Ginger and actually does all the really heavy stuff really well. This film is exactly 90 minutes long which means it's short and sweet just how we like it.
Alice Englert somehow makes what could be seen as a horrible character a bit more understandable and we really want Christina Hendricks to do lots and lots of film so we can just stare her at her beauty on the big screen.
Honestly, there aren't any. This isn't really the film to go and watch if you want to have a laugh but it's totally worth a watch so you can see the pretty major twist.
Verdict: A brilliantly complicated scenario that shows off some of Hollywood new stars. Watch out for these two girls, they're going to be the names on everyone's lips soon enough.
P.S. We totally love how cute their friendship is. We wish out best friends had been born on the same day as us!
Ginger and Rosa is out in cinemas on 19 October 2012.
