These horror flicks will have you biting your nails and hiding behind pillows...

Prepare the popcorn, grab your place on the sofa and press play on one of these classic horror flicks that tormented children (and adults alike) throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s. The graphics might not be quite as good as what you're used to but we promise these films will still make you shudder.

Just don't be surprised if you sleep with the light on for a few nights...

The Exorcist (1973)

Countless children were scarred for life after sneaking into the cinema to watch this cult horror film. A little girl is possessed by a hell-raising demon and only two priests can save her life. Cue a head twisting, bed floating scream-fest...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

Five friends are visiting relatives when they are viciously hunted down by a chainsaw wielding killer and his creepy cannibal family. The big baddie is Leatherface - a character loosely based on a real mass murderer who wore a mask of human skin in the 1950s. Horrifyingly horrendous....

Carrie (1976)

A teenager with telekinetic powers is mercilessly bullied by her peers and abused by her uber-religious mother, until one day she snaps....

Look out for the big budget remake with Chloe Moretz in 2013.

Friday the 13th (1980)

Camp counsellors are stalked and murdered by an unknown killer while trying to reopen an abandoned summer camp. It's considered one of the original slasher films and has spawned countless copies and follow-up movies. The original is still the best though...

Scream (1996)

Drew Barrymore, Courtney Cox and Rose McGowan are all stalked by a crazy mask wearing killer in this OMG like totally America slasher flick...

Dawn of the Dead (1978)

A disease of unknown origin causes the dead to rise again and prey on human flesh. People are, obviously, quite panicked and what follows is a bitter fight for survival. Watch it if you're a fan of the Walking Dead or 28 Days Later.

Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

Teenagers are stalked in their sleep by Freddy Krueger - a monstrous man with knives for fingers and a weird fetish for fedoras. Look out for a young Johnny Depp in this budget slasher flick...

Poltergeist (1982)

Ghosts invade a family home in California and kidnap the youngest daughter to wreak havoc. This chiller will make you look at your television set in a whole new light!

Halloween (1978)

A convicted killer who murdered his sister in cold blood returns to the scene of the crime 15 years later to stalk a group of unwitting friends. Knife-wielding slasher film that cost $300,000 to produce and made a staggering $70 million at the box office worldwide. Not bad eh?

Alien (1979)

The original horror flick that pitted Sigourney Weaver against an alien killer on-board her spaceship. This one will definitely make you jump!

Will you be watching these movies?
