We don't mean to alarm British bacon lovers, but farmers are getting set to fight a nasty pig virus that could see bacon sandwiches, sausages and pork chops wiped clean off our menus.
The porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus is currently wreaking havoc in America, and although harmless to humans, it's thought to have killed an estimated 4 million pigs in the States already.
If the virus were to land on UK farms, experts say the effects on herds and livestock could devastating, and also lead to a pork shortage and increased prices.
No reports of the virus have been logged in the UK so far, but farmers have been warned to take 'every precaution'.
