A British woman has spoken out about her botched boob job that lead to her breast implants exploding inside her body.
Kim Brockhurst is yet another victim of the PIP boob job scandal, where industrial grade silicon intended for mattresses ended up being used in breast implants.
"My breasts slowly went out of shape - it was a terrible time," she told The Mirror.
But it got worse. Brockhurst, a 51-year-old fitness instructor from Wales, then had the silicon leak into her body as her implants exploded.
Brockhurst, had to have reconstructive surgery to remove the silicon repair her boobs. As the corrective surgery is not covered by the NHS, she was filmed on Botched Up Bodies who covered the cost.
The PIP faulty implants scandal rocked the cosmetic surgery world back in 2010, when it was estimated 400,000 women were affected globally by the defective implants.
The scandal was made more complicated as there was no central list of women who had undergone the surgery, meaning there was no way of contacting those at risk.
Sir Bruce Keogh, a medical director at the NHS who was brought in at the time to examine procedures told Sky News he was concerned, "too many people do not realise how serious cosmetic surgery is and do not consider the life-long implications - and potential complications - it can have."
The story comes as the Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has spoken out against breast implants being given on the NHS. "We should not be doing cosmetic work on the NHS.
"The decisions are taken on the basis of clinical need, but I have made it very clear that I am against purely cosmetic work being done."
