Shocking news coming at us from our friends across the pond - pants with caffeine in them may not obliterate cellulite.
A class action suit has been raised against Maidenform Brands, specifically their shapewear range which has added caffeine capsultes embeded 'to promote fat destruction', reports NY Daily News.
The New York women filing the complaint say that they did not get the results they were promised.
Caffeine has often been muted to help weight loss (what hasn't?) as it stimulates thermogenesis, which is one way your body generates energy from digesting food.
However, the amount of caffeine that would be absorbed through the skin with these types of garments is supposed to be so small, it wouldn't have that dramatic an effect on a person's metabolism.
This is not the first fat fighting product to be dragged through the courts. Earlier this year Sketchers had to pay out $40 million for their Shape-up trainers (as advertised by Kim Kardashian) for over egging their weight loss powers.
Annoyingly, eating less and moving more still seems to be the only answer. Blast.
