Next month's British Fashion Awards are set to be a suitably stylish affair with the cream of UK design talent jostling for one of the prestigious prizes. However, this year's awards ceremony comes with a twist. For one year only - to celebrate the 25th year of the British Fashion Awards - there is a new category, the London 25 award, where you can vote on who you would like to win.
For the first time, instead of the usual panel of industry experts, it's up to the public to decide which individual should win the London 25 award. Voters can nominate their favourite style icons through the British Fashion Awards website and must choose a figure who most embodies the spirit of London and acts as an international ambassador for the British capital's fashion industry.
Names tipped to win include Kate Moss, Stella McCartney, David Bailey, Vivienne Westwood, Erin O'Connor, Georgia Jagger and current style queen Alexa Chung, who is taking America by storm hosting her own MTV show and being embraced by the New York fashion scene. Got someone else in mind? Then it's not too late to vote for your favourite by visiting the British Fashion Awards website.
The winner will be announced at the awards bash on 9 December 2009 at London's Royal Courts of Justice, as well as the night's annual prizes, including Model of the Year, BFC Award for Outstanding Achievement, Designer Brand and Designer of the Year, which was won last year by Luella Bartley.
