A shopping weekend in London? A stay at this boutique hotel is the only place to drop once you've shopped.

Why go

The latest addition to the myhotel group, the Bloomsbury branch is located between the vibrant Tottenham Court Road and the serene Bedford Square, just off the shopping haven that is Oxford Street.

The hotel is as quirky as it is chic, offering a mix of designs in its 77 bedrooms that include bright wallpaper as well as vintage and designer furniture.

As well as catering to the needs of busy shoppers and businessmen (the myplace suites offer a workstation fully equipped with MACs and wireless keyboards), the boutique retreat prides itself on its green stance, with Anyah eco-friendly toiletries stocked in all its modern bathrooms.

And while the hotel's restaurant, Gail's Kitchen, is all bang-on-trend industrial-meets-vintage, the overall environment is restful and soothing.

Each room has its own decor, meaning you're getting a unique experience no matter what room you book.

We stayed in myplace2, a huge suite that comes with a massive king size bed, en suite bathroom, work station and its own balcony. We spent far too much time people watching outside, as the balcony overlooks the peaceful Bedford Square.

Once we stopped being nosy, we were more than happy to chill in front of the flat screen TV and flick through the magazines that were thoughtfully displayed on the coffee table.

In the morning, after the most powerful shower in the world, the work station came in handy to check some work emails while sipping on the various coffees and teas provided.

May we add that the room is big enough to fit in all your shopping, plus an overnight bag without looking messy?

We headed to Gail's Kitchen for breakfast and it was just what we needed to start off the day nicely.

The menu offers classic recipes from various countries & periods, served into slates to share. We had a continental breakfast with deliciously fresh orange juice and freshly baked bread with jam and butter, as well as still-warm croissants and pains au chocolat.

Yogurt with granola and fruit ensured we didn't feel too guilty.

One of the beauties of myhotel Bloomsbury is its location. A stone's throw away from Oxford Street, it means your credit card can get some action at the likes of Primark, Zara, H&M and the Topshop flagship store.

The lowdown

Whether you're on a business trip looking to wind down and catch up on some work emails, or just on a girly shopping weekend, myhotel Bloomsbury is the perfect little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the heart of London, without having to go to the countryside.
